Feature Story about Carly & Martina Appears in Glencoe News

December 1, 2014 Glencoe, IL A feature article titled “Twin sisters, seventh graders at Central, launch song on iTunes” was published today in the Glencoe News, a special edition to the Chicago Tribune newspaper.

Staff writer Daniel I. Dorfman first met 13 year old twins and recording artists Carly & Martina in person on November 23 at SPACE, Evanston’s hottest live music venue, for the videotaping of their debut single “Make Me Happy”. After a brief interview with producer Steve Wagner of Wagadelic Music, Dorfman photographed the girls on stage as they prepared for the opening scene of the video shoot. It wasn’t until the following night that Dorfman’s interview with the girls took place. The article covers Carly & Martina’s musical path and contains quotes from the girls as well as their parents and producer.

Here are some excerpts from the article:

“Whenever I am thinking about something I am thinking about a really cool melody,” Carly said. “You can hear the band playing when I am thinking about it in my head. It is very emotional so that is very nice.”

Martina described how inspiration can hit it any time, even if they had been stuck.

“I can be studying for a test but it doesn’t matter and I can go over to the piano and we will figure it out,” she said.

“They have good songwriting skills, they are good musicians and they sing in harmony where they have special talent,” said Wagner, who has been a music industry producer for 20 years.

Wagner is not sure where the path will take them, but wants Carly and Martina to enjoy the process which recently had “Make Me Happy” available for purchase.
